Our Innovation by Design Services

Successful businesses and organizations all have one thing in common – the love for innovation. Constantly moving and dynamic, organizations – big or small – take each problematic situation in stride, examine it using unusual perspectives, and craft creative solutions that go on to be the next big thing.

Giants like Apple, IDEO, and IBM have found the modern-day Holy Grail for innovation in big corporations, start-ups, and even government and socio-civic organizations – the Design Thinking. A relatively new concept, the Design Thinking is all about finding innovative solutions to the most pressing problems faced by organizations today.

Design Thinking 101

In our years of providing tested and proven Innovation by Design services, we found that most organizations are confronted with the challenge of coming up with big ideas in a much faster rate. Businesses are constantly pressured to provide the best products and services in the market by harnessing individual and group creativity of its members.

Traditional problem-solving approaches, while effective in some instances, simply do not the job as great as Design Thinking. Design Thinking is both a disciplined and flexible approach in the sense that creative solutions are generated for data-grounded problems faced by consumers. These solutions are then thoroughly tested and refined according to consumers’ preferences.

Our Innovation by Design services encompasses all four phases involved in Design Thinking. Each phase requires proper execution of processes and tools for maximum productivity.

 Four Phases in Design Thinking

  • Phase 1: Assessing the current situation. The first step in Design Thinking is gathering accurate data of the current situation, i.e. experiences of and problems encountered by users. This involves exploratory methods such as ethnographic research and in-depth interviews, in contrast to traditional data gathering approaches such as surveys and focused group discussions. Ethnographic accounts present a more detailed description of users’ day-to-day experience and interactions relevant to the organization’s purposes. Conducting such research requires expertise and sensitivity from researchers – qualities that our Innovation by Design services team has mastered. Tools needed to complete this phase include journey mapping, value chain analysis, and mind mapping.

  • Phase 2: Imagining a better future. Now that we know the current reality of our users, we may begin to imagine a future where these problems are solved by innovative solutions. In this process we will conduct several sessions of brainstorming in order to come up with out-of-the-box ideas for solutions. This phase calls for carefully studying user experiences, current solutions available to them, problematic areas, and thinking of unique approaches to address these areas. These approaches are ideas are to be treated as hypotheses that need to be tested.

  • Phase 3: Developing and testing new ideas. Design Thinking then takes us to the next step of testing the ideas or hypotheses we came up with in Phase 2. This phase involves testing the assumptions that support our hypotheses by again conducting researches and creating prototypes. Researches in this phase most often aim to observe which ideas or concepts produce certain effects on users. Results will be indicative of which ideas work best for specific groups of users, situations, or context. When assumptions are thoroughly tested, prototypes can then be produced and tested among users.

  • Phase 4: Finalizing the product. The final step in Design Thinking involves finalizing products, testing them among users, and determining which features or services work. This step calls for customer co-creation wherein users have active participation in the development of products. This ensures that products are responsive and tailored for the needs of users.

Professional, data-driven and creativity-friendly, our Innovation by Design services generate cutting-edge solutions for modern-day consumers. By taking into account your organizations’ and users’ context, we are able to provide some of the best services in the industry.
